"The performance of the Grant Fidelity LS3/5As is on another level entirely. They have impressive dynamics and frequency range, especially as regards their bass performance. Their soundstaging is as good as it gets. There is also an honest and direct quality about them that leaves you feeling that you have heard the music, not the speakers. These speakers cannot be judged by their price—it's utterly irrelevant—they can only be judged by their performance, which is exceptional in every respect.

For listeners looking for a speaker of this type and size, I think the GF LS3/5A will end their search.....So, are these truly LS3/5As? I wish I had a pair of BBC LS3/5As with which to compare them but I don't. Based upon what I have read, however, I would have to say, no, these are not true LS3/5As. They are better than that. They truly do sing."

Product Description:

Based on the famous Rogers LS3/5A Studio Monitor that has been cloned many times now and was produced in by various manufacturers to meet the original BBC specification, which is where the term LS3/5A came from (it refers to a specification).

Many will say that they were perfected by KEF when KEF took over both driver and crossover design. While well used in studios in Europe, they never really caught on in North America studios. The original LS3/5A were designed for BBC field broadcasters so it can work with various room size and is the pinnacle for speaker vocal reproduction.

Emulating the original KEF drivers and crossovers with new drivers from China and faithfully recreating the original cabinet all out of new materials - The result on the Grant Fidelity LS3/5A is the invisible crossover and accuracy of the original, but with a smoother bass response that both studio and home user are going to fall in love with. Closed cabinet but this small sized speaker produce a stunning HUGE soundstage.

For the music lover and audiophile, you get a speaker that completely vanishes from the musical performance, leaving you with a 3 dimensional soundstage without the hotspots of speakers. Either in your main listening system or placed in a smaller room, these speakers will sing.

Recommended positioning - equal triangle at ear level, it produces accurate and deep bass with the a truly magical midrange and top end. We placed the speakers this way with our SET 300B amp in 2009 Montreal show and many visitors couldn't believe the pair could work together this well (300B SET amp typically request speaker efficiency at 90dB and up, but these LS3/5 is 84dB only!) The speakers have completely vanished from the natural 3D soundstage and plays plenty volume in a standard size room.

Review:
These little gems are great at what you would expect them to do well - disappearing in the great soundstage they create, and having refined mid range. Despite their small size, modest power handling and 84dB efficiency they will play much louder than anticipated. But what really surprised the heck out of me is when I hooked them up to my I-25 instead of the Grant Fidelity SFS-1 prototypes which are about 5 times the size and weight of the LS3/5As (and a lot more $$, too) when playing Beethoven Symphonies: on this large scale and dynamic work I preferred the little LS3/5As. No, they could not dig quite as deep as the transmission line floorstanders, but the bass was honest and balanced with the rest of the music, and the refinement, detail, organization and musicality beat the bigger speakers.
FWIW: I briefly tried pairing a subwoofer with the LS3/5As. I could feel the big organ pipes with the sub - but overall the music was not enhanced. I think with more care and a better sub a good pairing could be achieved - but these little speakers have enough bass in my room that a moderately priced sub takes away from their quality.
