1. How is this Shuugang S300I different from the Shuguang S300MK amp that being offered by Grant Fidelity now?
A: The Shuguang S300MK amp is from custom batch made for Grant Fidelity from the beginning for North American voltage. It has 4 inputs rather than 2 in S300I; and has different parts configuration than the S300I. We compared the inside the two amps and feel that the workmanship of hand-wiring circuits are of better quality in S300MK than in the S300I.
The S300I was initially made mostly for Chinese market and European market without remote control. Factory has changed the main transformers on those now offered for North America to suite 115-120V/60Hz.
2. Which 300B amp should I get between the two?
A: This will depends on your preference on warranty and service and your desired price point. S300MK carries full warranty from Grant Fidelity and you have choice of 30 day return so it will naturally cost more.
S300I carries factory warranty of 90 days as clearance products and cost less due to less input, no remote control feature.
Grant Fidelity will offer North American customers 'pay-as-you-go' service to the S300I amps when they pass factory warranty time. We have had great experience with the product quality from Shuguang Audio (now Psvane Audio) so we feel the need for repairing these amps will be minimal except normal tube maintenance. The S300I is offered for quick clearance mostly due to the business relationship changes between Shuguang Audio (now Psvane Audio) and Shuguang Group, not because of product quality.
